S.P. Freeling would resign on February 8, 1922. George Short was appointed to fill the vacancy and served the remainder of the term.
Oklahoma's election ledgers for 1926 and earlier often have mistakes where the county by county figures do not add up exactly to the stated totals. The stated total for Freeling is 102,674 but the county figures add up to 102,451. The stated total for Taylor is 78,700 but the county figures add up to 78,680.
