William Holloway became Acting Governor on January 21, 1929 when the Oklahoma House of Representatives impeached Governor Henry Johnston. After Johnston's conviction by the Oklahoma Senate on March 20th, Holloway succeeded him as Governor. The office of Lieutenant Governor remained vacant for the rest of the term.
Oklahoma's election ledgers for 1926 and earlier often have mistakes where the county by county figures do not add up exactly to the stated totals. The stated total for Holloway is 197,783 but the county figures add up to 198,083. The stated total for Shadid is 1,592 but the county figures add up to 1,582.
